Lovely golden/dark rum from the Dominican Republic, Ron Barceló Añejo works well in cocktails, or on the rocks.
Nose: Spicy and toasty with notes of dry oak, marasca cherries, hints of butterscotch and cedar.
Palate: A tangy, caramel-rich palate with cocoa butter a little youthful oak and spice.
Finish: Spiced and sweet with creamy chocolate.

Not a great rum. Have had much better. I guess this is considered mid level among dominican rums but it should hold up better on its own and it does not. Lacks flavor and complexity. It's not bad at all with ginger ale though.

I have bought this a few times (ca 6 bottles in total) at Bordershop Puttgarden and was satisfied with it at the price. The most recent bottle however tasted and smelled like medicinal alcohol sweetened with sugar. Total turn off. Makes me wonder if it was a knock-off or if the producers are out to make a quick sloppy buck. Won't be buying it again.
