Barceló Añejo Bottling Note

Lovely golden/dark rum from the Dominican Republic, Ron Barceló Añejo works well in cocktails, or on the rocks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Spicy and toasty with notes of dry oak, marasca cherries, hints of butterscotch and cedar.

Palate: A tangy, caramel-rich palate with cocoa butter a little youthful oak and spice.

Finish: Spiced and sweet with creamy chocolate.

Ron Barceló Añejo Reviews

Enjoyed it very much

I was gifted a bottle of Anejo a while back, but not a big rum fan so it sat some time in the liquor cabinet. Recently mixed it with Pepsi, ice, and a squeeze of lemon on a hot summer day. What a treat, smooth and refreshing.
I'd certainly have nice rum again.
Thanks you Barcelo

It's a 3 from me, but only for the YUMMY CHOCOLATE FINNISH

WEIRD STUFF. Nose = Grow your own Mushrooms in the bag & Paint Stripper. A little Minasota Pipestone with Roasted French Ochra.
In the mouth = As Nose above, however this only lasted a few seconds, then a large arrival of multi layered flavours and tastes. Some good, whilst some I could not identify, apart from the glue you got for your Airfix plastic model kits.
Finnish = LOVELY CHOCOLATE!!! Wish it lasted more than a couple of minutes.
Star score = 1 to 5, so I will give it an generous 3 stars

Ehh ok as a mixer.

Not a great rum. Have had much better. I guess this is considered mid level among dominican rums but it should hold up better on its own and it does not. Lacks flavor and complexity. It's not bad at all with ginger ale though.

My latest bottle was no good

I have bought this a few times (ca 6 bottles in total) at Bordershop Puttgarden and was satisfied with it at the price. The most recent bottle however tasted and smelled like medicinal alcohol sweetened with sugar. Total turn off. Makes me wonder if it was a knock-off or if the producers are out to make a quick sloppy buck. Won't be buying it again.
