Highland Wineries

Mead, one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in history, has seen quite the resurgence recently (find out more about that over on our blog)! Moniack Mead is a traditional honey mead, produced at Moniack Castle by Highland Wineries, through the process of fermenting honey. A fun mead fact: traditionally, after a wedding the bride and groom were given enough mead to last then one month, which is where the term ‘honeymoon’ came from!
Smooth and warming with a certain dryness, prominent honey and caramel flavours without being overly sweet, along with light floral notes.

If you want a smooth yet strong experience, something good for any occasion might I suggest Moniak mead. Close to 15% top quality Straight from the highlands. It was commonly given for celebration at great halls. Married couples were traditionally given enough mead for a month... they called that the Honeymoon. A taste of the Oldworld Vikings and a fine drink enjoyed by kings. Made with traditional ingredients of locally produced honey (from the highlands of Moniak Castle) With this drink you'll need no other. Enjoy! Skol!
Wasn't sure at first when I tried it but then put it in the fridge and tried it with ice and it was smooth and tasty, got through the bottle in a few hours.
A superb beverage, I chilled mine as much as I could and the flavour and smoothness was sublime. Mead is definitely coming back!
