A very snazzy bottle of The King's Ginger liqueur from Berry Bros. & Rudd, presented at the lower strength of 29.9% ABV. As the story goes, King Edward VII's doctor was concerned about the monarch, and in 1903 asked Berry Bros. & Rudd to create something to warm him – and so the liqueur was born. This is its modern take on the historical tipple! A suitably warming sipper, or a great addition to Scotch whisky cocktails.
A zip of lemon peel, with sweet candied ginger and fiery, drier root ginger on the finish.
Clearly the blending was lead by someone noseblind.
Do they mess with Martini? No. Do they mess with Baileys? No. Do they mess with Jack Daniels? No. Take the hint, don't mess with the King's Ginger - he'll come back and haunt you. Bring it back, please!
I much preferred the original recipe, not so harsh and deeper flavour. A classic “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” in my view.
Crime of the century. Incomprehensible change of the recipe from most gracious and excellent nectar to most appalling graceless non-drink. Unforgivable. Bring back The King’s Ginger in all its former glory
You’ve lowered the price & I still wouldn’t want it. The new flavour is not at all to my taste. Had one glass out the new bottle & thinking I’ll have to use the rest in cooking. Perhaps a Christmas pud?
