A very snazzy bottle of The King's Ginger liqueur from Berry Bros. & Rudd, presented at the lower strength of 29.9% ABV. As the story goes, King Edward VII's doctor was concerned about the monarch, and in 1903 asked Berry Bros. & Rudd to create something to warm him – and so the liqueur was born. This is its modern take on the historical tipple! A suitably warming sipper, or a great addition to Scotch whisky cocktails.
A zip of lemon peel, with sweet candied ginger and fiery, drier root ginger on the finish.

I accept that all but the most iconic brands need revitalisation but the changes introduced by the makers of this old liqueur are not to my personal taste. This version which reduces the alcohol content from 40% to 29.9% has changed the taste for the worse. This version is not as gingery or as warming. Gone are the hints of vanilla and light spice this is a lighter drink designed to act as a mixer. I actually think it questionable that it should carry the name of the older version of the drink. This year I've moved on to a French ginger liqueur from Giffard.

Should be rebranded the Kings Lemon. ABSOLUTELY appalling taste that lingers with tenacity of cheap lemons… Have to ration my last remaining original. The new bottle is as cheap as the product they claim as King Ginger !
Total rubbish! The strength massively reduced. The product should have been re-labelled under a different name and sold at half the price or less. Would not buy it again.
Bought a bottle of this thinking it was an potentially interesting sister to the ‘proper’ kings ginger. I was then disappointed to realise that the original had gone and they were only making this version now, which as per the comments.. is not as good.
