As the story goes, King Edward VII's doctor was concerned about the monarch, and in 1903 asked Berry Bros. & Rudd to create something to warm him – and so the liqueur was born. This is its modern take on the historical tipple! A suitably warming sipper, or a great addition to Scotch whisky cocktails.

I cannot understand why they changed such a wonderful liqueur. The new taste is awful and I will not be buying anymore.

Horrible. Do not buy unless under extreme duress.

Absolutely adored the old black bottle Kings Ginger. Very sad they stopped this and having read so many poor reviews of the new version I decided to avoid. However, I was bought a bottle by someone and thought ok, I’ll give it a go. What can I say that hasn’t been said already. Foul taste, even the texture isn’t right anymore. Whoever made the decision to change the mixture must now be put in charge of nothing more complex than fruit juice.

Ruined

Why change to something inferior. I tried the 'new' kings ginger recently and what a disappointment. Overly citrus and sharp. Gone is the warming mellow richness of the original. Quite unpleasant to drink. Several of my guests said the same. I will not be buying again.

Disaster of a rebrand

Very poor, citrus heavy, weaker version of the original. Not a viable substitute at all, better to look elsewhere.
