This is the Assay Rhubarb & Custard Gin from the Sheffield Distillery, made with a base of its London dry gin along with Yorkshire rhubarb and Madagascan vanilla beans. Not only has it put some tasty cocktail ideas into our heads, it's also got the theme tune to Roobarb and Custard stuck in there too.
Juniper remains at the fore with peppery warmth, though the tanginess of rhubarb manages to develop underneath, with a touch of vanilla sweetness helping it along.
We bought this at the Xmas market in Sheffield last year. It is an excellent flavour and we went back to buy another bottle at this year's Xmas market. It is a little expensive but well worth it.
