It's a bottle of Monkey 47 Dry Gin, alongside a really rather snazzy gift box, which ought to make wrapping up this fantastic gin a doddle (y'know if you're giving it to a lucky someone as a pressie). The spirit itself comes to us all the way from Germany, and features a massive selection of 47 botanicals, including herbs from the Black Forest. Exceedingly delicious in a Gibson or a Martini, but more than holds its own in a classic G&T, too.
Oh there is a lot going on here... Woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.
