The Gospel Whisky is a distillery in Melbourne's that aims to mix American whiskey tradition with Australian character. The Gospel focuses on rye and is the only distillery in Australia dedicated to rye whiskey. Their rye is 100% Australian, grown in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia which has a tough climate that means the rye yield is small but strong. It creates a whisky with the deep, spicy taste of traditional American rye whiskey but with an Australian twist. You'll taste vanilla, cinnamon, and dried fruits mix with pepper, grass, and grain. Master distiller, Ian Thorn, is often called Australia's first 'master distiller' and he oversees every part of The Gospel's production. Founders, Ben and Andrew, built the distillery with help from friends and family and it took 18 months. They built a six-metre-high continuous column still and a custom copper pot still. The Gospel focuses on social responsibility, sustainability, and community support, with 100% recyclable packaging, a process that minimises waste, and a committment to giving 2.5% of net profit to partner charities.
