We’ve launched the Master of Malt Trade Blog today. And yes, you’re allowed to read it too.

Before anybody panics, this blog, the one you are reading now, is staying exactly where it is, doing what it does best: whisky news, bottle recommendations, distillery deep dives, and the like.

But we have also launched the Master of Malt Trade Blog, a new space for the people who work in drinks. Bartenders, retailers, buyers, brand folk, distillers, distributors, importers, venue owners, and even the curious lurkers.

Drinks trends for 2026 include the Mini Martini

What is this, a cocktail for ants?!?! If you want to learn more about the trade, head to our new blog

Why the Master of Malt Trade Blog?

The trade shapes a lot of what ends up in your glass. The bottles on back bars, the cocktails on menus, the trends that stick – and those that need to be quietly escorted from the premises – the brands that break through, the categories people rediscover, and the serves that suddenly appear everywhere.

The Trade Blog is where we will look at that world more directly. What is changing? What are bars pouring? And what are customers asking for? Which trends have legs? Which ones are basically a hat on a hat?

There will be interviews, bartender insight, retailer perspectives, market observations, data, trend pieces, trade reports, and the odd article about why everyone has started saying the same three terrible phrases in drinks marketing. Like this blog, we won’t be reposting press releases.

The Trade Blog is written for the drinks industry, but you don’t need a login to view it. Think of it as a look behind the curtain. If you are in the trade, very much come and have a look. If you are not in the trade, come and have a look anyway. We won’t check your lanyard at the door.
