The commune of Saint Estephe traditionally makes some of the most muscular wines in the Medoc. After nine years this is still stuffed with fruit and spice but the tannins have softened now and it's drinking absolutely superbly. Buy a rib of beef, invite over a load of people and uncork this beauty.

Dense spicy nose, some earthy notes, dark fruit just taking on a stewed quality. Initially tannins are a bit firm but they soften with time open, revealing ripe fruit, lots of spice, and woody herbal notes.
