One of the tricks with buying wine is to go for the cheaper wine from a top producer. In this case instead of buying a the rare and expensive Côte-Rôtie from Jean-Luc Jamet, instead buy this Côte-du-Rhône. It's made from the same grape, syrah, in the Northern Rhone and offers much of the perfumed magic of its big brother but at a more everyday price.
