Domaines Schlumberger Riesling Grand Cru Saering 2015
This is something a bit exciting: grand cru Alsace riesling with a bit of age on it from a top producer, Domaine Schlumberger. Grand cru meaning it comes from a designated top vineyard, in this case Saering. It's a ripe, opulent wine that's classed as dry, though there's a tiny bit of sweetness here, 4g per litre of sugar. Time in the bottle has opened this up as a hedonistic treat bursting with honey, tropical fruit and toasty notes. This would work well with cheeses like Munster or Epoisses as well as meat dishes like pork with apricots, or spicy Thai food.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Toasty nose, ripe, creamy, with lashings of tropical fruit. Ripe and hedonistic on the palate, with pineapple, peach and honey. Very toasty and creamy on the finish. Rich and rather gorgeous, like a sweet wine that's somehow dry.
