M. Chapoutier Saint-Joseph 2017
St. Joseph is one of the crus of the Northern Rhone, and somewhat overshadowed by its more illustrious neighbours at Hermitage and Cote Rotie. The reds are usually made entirely from syrah though producers are allowed to add some white grapes, marsanne and roussanne, up to 10% of the blend. This one is made by the prestigious merchant house of Chapoutier to produce a fresh, floral red wine that's extremely versatile at the table: red meat, slow-cooked pork, lamb, and richer vegetable dishes like ratatouille would all be perfect with this.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Raspberry, violets, and black pepper on the palate, with a fresh racy acidity, and just a little tannin.
