American whiskey brand Westland doesn't just make tasty spirits, it does so with an ethical approach and one that revels in barley innovation and sustainability. That's why a bottle of its single malt American whiskey was selected by Berry Bros. & Rudd to be in the first range of its series Collective #1: The Pioneers. The 2014 vintage whiskey was finished in a single Madeira cask (cask 6235) and then bottled up at 53% ABV in 2023.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
The nose offers juicy notes of ripe pawpaw, apricot, and luscious oak as an inviting glimpse of what’s to come.
Palate
The palate is notably thick, showing phenomenally firm structure with apricot jam, mango, brioche, and fudge coating the mouth.
Finish
Fruit and nut chocolate flavours linger on the finish with a moreish sensation.
Overall
This is a masterful pairing of supreme spirit and oak from one of the USA’s finest distilleries.
