    The Pogues Single Malt Whiskey

Another Irish whiskey from The Pogues (yes, the band) and West Cork Distillers. The band's first foray into the world of whiskey was a brilliant Irish blend, and now we have a single malt, aged in bourbon oak casks before it was bottled up at 40% ABV. Now we're going to have Fairytale of New York stuck in our heads for the rest of the day.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Fairly floral, with lavendar, sesame snaps, caramelised nuts and salted chocolate.

    Palate

Dry oak spice and chai spices, with peanut butter, s'mores and floral malt.

    Finish

A gentle finish of lingering caramel alongside cinnamon stick.

A very original and memorable malt

This is not your typical Irish whiskey. Packs a real kick despite being only 40 abv, an unusually strong body for a triple distilled Irish. It really needs some air and water first. Peanuts, chocolate and roasted seeds on the nose, palette and finish. This is an experimental and complex malt that simply isn't for everyone, just like The Pogues music itself. I really respect the originality and strong character of this whiskey. Just be prepared to keep an open mind about this one!

This whiskey can Pog Mo Thoin!

Really not great at all. Could just about be drank with a cola, and if you have to throw in some cola, you might as well by Jack Daniels, which is a far nicer drink then this.... and that kind says something right. Such a shame, as you would think a bit of love would be throw in, if you put your name to something. This stream of whiskey will not be following....

    Vile

Tastes like methanol just poured down the sink vile

    Very unpleasant whiskey

I received this whiskey as a Christmas present. I drink scotch and Irish and this is just a very unpleasant drink. I have thrown 99% of the whiskey down the drain.

Average whiskey with novelty bottle & band association

Not the best but not the worst, tastes like a standard blended whisky & apart from the bottle & association with the Pogues would only sell for the same price. Mellow flavour which can be drunk on its own or mixed, worth a try if reasonably priced but not as a single malt.
