“I do enjoy Redbreast and Yellow Spot (who doesn’t) but at about 70% the price here in Nova Scotia, this is an outstanding value. Many of the taste attributes you would expect from a more premium Irish offering.”

Description

Writers Tears Double Oak marries both single malt and single pot still whiskeys after a triple distillation, and is aged in both American oak from Kentucky and French oak Cognac casks from the French Allary Cooperage - the delicious result of a collaboration between the Walsh family and the Legaret family in Cognac, France.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Spiced and stewed orchard fruits, lots of sweet and earthy vanilla pod with a side of pear crumble.

Palate

Juicy white stone fruits, lychee and lemon peel with a hint of grape skin dryness.

Finish

Rich and aromatic spiced dark chocolate.

Very high value!

Biscuity and tannic

Smells like biscotti or almondy biscuit. Tastes a little like over-brewed tea.

The great chocolatey taste!

Love the palette and finish, the ethanol hits hard on the nose and early on the palette. Letting it sit for a while before sipping works wonders and brings out the notes. Taste good when paired with chocolate desserts, delish!
