Here we have the 2018 release of The Irishman's Cask Strength Irish whiskey, an annual limited release. This expression was aged in American oak bourbon casks hand selected by Bernard Walsh, with an outturn of just 3,716 bottles. Special stuff, bottled at 54% ABV.
Creamy vanilla notes, toasted malt and subtle ginger spice.
Well balanced, with gentle malt sweetness alongside dry oak tannins.
Long, with rich dark chocolate and lingering spices.

Such an unexpected treat - not just amazing flavours throughout, it's also great at full strength or diluted. This was my second selection of The Irishman and it was a world better than the first (which was already quite good), so I was just knocked over at the quality.
