A fabulous Irish blend of 70% single malt whiskey and 30% single pot still whiskey. After being triple distilled, the Irishman Founder's Reserve is aged in bourbon casks. Bernard Walsh, you should be proud!
Peach Campino sweeties (they also made the strawberries and cream sweets), apples and a soft, spicy hint of white pepper.
Plenty rich with a glorious mouth-feel. More ripe fruits, paired with vanilla and cinnamon.
Very long.
Well rounded, finely balance.
Outstanding blend of single malt and single pot still (no cheap column still grain) at a very reasonable price. My favorite "budget" Irish
Just discovered this by way of a tasting of the brand’s various whiskies hosted by Bernard Walsh in Toronto and to my surprise I preferred the Founder’s reserve over the other more expensive offerings. I had tried the Writers Tears before and I found it to be pleasant but unremarkable. The Founder’s reserve seemed to tick all the boxes - approachable, well made, succulent and having been aged exclusively in ex bourbon casks had a purity of taste and aroma that I enjoyed immensely and compared very favourably to some of my favourite single malt scotch whiskies at a similar price point. Kudos to Bernard Walsh for creating a very special and affordable Irish whiskey that can hold its own against age statement scottish and Irish whiskies. An utterly delightful whiskey that is now my go to daily dram.
Tastes like it's been watered down
Picked this up after looking for something new. I could not agree more with the tasting notes. Its word perfect and makes thia a very, very enjoyable nip. Only got it yesterday and thinking about a second bottle already. Well worth it
Not a bad whiskey but I much preferred the Green Spot, which costs less !
