The 'D.E.W.' in Tullamore D.E.W. comes from the initials of a General Manager at the Tullamore distillery in the later 19th Century, named Daniel E. Williams.
Nose: Fruity and biscuity. There are gristy notes with caramel and toffee sweetness and plenty of peels.
Palate: Good body with notes of sherried peels and spice, granary toast with butter and honey, grains and vanilla cream.
Finish: Quite vegetal and long with notes of caramel and toffee.

I love it. Very smooth but I taste a hint of apple and you don’t mention that in palate. Does anyone else taste apple?
5th October 2019
A great irish. No smoke.
25th July 2019
Harsh, bitter, attacks the mouth and throat with a viscous stinging and burning. Anything but smooth. Not even for a tenner is this worth the price.
22nd July 2019
It's the best whiskey I've ever tried, everyone complaining about it probably prefers sweet Lucy. Comparble to Jameson but better.
17th July 2019
It's lovely!
6th July 2019
Nice n tasty warming and a good aftertaste well recommended
3rd July 2019
Smooth, tasty, but mellow with just enough body.
25th January 2019
Full bodied slightly oily and flavourful, with a decent long-lasting finish.Fairly simple flavour profiles, mostly banana bread and raisin sweetness with butter and a back-of-the-mouth zesty peel feel. Spikey young feeling to it which expands and rounds off after the first few seconds and becomes smooth and buttery in the mouth.Long lasting, oily, and slightly spicey, almost a pepper on the finish.
31st December 2018
I open this one up with a little chilled water and find that the nose immediately offers up tinned peaches in syrup with vanilla ice cream. That hit of vanilla slides right across the palette and becomes soft, oaky but with the tang of metallic alcohol as it goes down. Absolutely no peat and no smoke so it doesn't have a long finish but overall it provides plenty to keep an amateur drinker happy, particularly at this price.
20th December 2018
My favourite muscle relaxer! Excellent price-duality ratio.
9th November 2018
It's very harsh, almost acidic. I've no idea why there are reviews calling this 'smooth' because it's anything but smooth. I tried to continue this bottle with cola, ginger ale, pepsi, and 7-up, and it made all of them undrinkable too.
30th August 2018
Undrinkable - must be the new distillery - it used to be OK!
18th August 2018
Not an awful lot going on. Very feeble on the nose and has a bit of a sickly aftertaste. It doesn't compare with my favourite triple distilled Hazelburn 10 yo.
10th July 2018
Very smooth. Like to add a few drops of water and then it becomes even more mellow. This is after dinner whiskey. (R)
5th May 2018
Pretty smooth and a lot of character. Great value!
29th April 2018
Slick packaging, not much to it, for the price its alright maybe less sweet than Jameson but flip a coin between the two
8th April 2018
A good breakfast whiskey
15th March 2018
Nice on the nose fruity but very very short on a palate and finish is just 1 second affair. Strange. Buy standard Jameson instead.
12th March 2018
A very good whiskey for it's price range, a smooth mellow blend with a hint of sweetness, perfect for sharing with whiskey drinkers and non whiskey drinkers alike.
6th January 2018
Harsh. This is the second name for this blend, only with coke.
30th December 2017
Has its place ; a civilized whiskey for sure. Nice and smooth.
24th December 2017
14 is good 15 is Smooth 18 is the Ticket for 25-30 more Dollars it's the Ticket! But Dollar for Dollar John Wayne was on to Something!
16th December 2017
A nice whiskey, but for a few more pence i'd be buying Powers Gold Label !
13th April 2017
A smooth, easy-drinking whiskey. Mellow fruitiness and slightly sweet. Fantastic VFM
15th March 2017
its lovely smooth
5th December 2016
Amazing for the price!
21st November 2016
This is an excellent dram for the price. Much better than Jameson or Bushmills. An opening of sweet stone fruits gives way to an oaky astringency, and finishes with smooth vanilla.
31st October 2016
Very good.
12th June 2016
I drink bourbon, scotch, Irish, Japanese, rye, all whiskeys really. This is my choice for an average day drink. Smooth, sweet, and easy on the palate.
6th June 2016
Had a glass of Tullamore D.E.W. in a bar in Athens, not a bad experience, but not something to talk about either. Some honey/vanilla flavor with a slightly bitter finish (but not a good woody bitterness). In any case, I would prefer this to Jameson, as I find the latter whiskey too sweet for my taste. My daily dram is still Paddy :)
26th May 2016
nice blend of whiskey
8th April 2016
lovely stuff so smoth
27th March 2016
Not knowing what I was drinking until after I tried this against two far more expensive single malt scotches and this won out easily. It's hard to find a whiskey of this quality for this price. There aren't many contenders. A round of surprised applause good.
2nd March 2016
Surprisingly good considering its price and that it's grain whiskey from a column still with NAS.Crisp, lots of flavour, even a hint of malt biscuit but just enough, to allow the fruitiness to come through. Almost refreshing. Defo worth a go at the right price.
31st December 2015
It's hard to do better for the price. Whether it's the kind of day where you have a single or the night you split a bottle, the DEW is always on point.
29th December 2015
Tried differrent whiskey jameson, glenlivet, greek something, glenfiddih, jack d, chivas, another scotch forhot name, but This is very smooth delicate to relax and enjoy. Not so bitter not so heavy alkohol. Very good. For beginner in whiskey: 1 place is for Yamazaki 12, 2 place for tullamore and glenlivet 12, 3rd for chivas regal 12
15th December 2015
Very good for the price!
10th December 2015
I'm no expert by any means, but I like to have a wee dram now and then and Tullamore Dew surprises me with how grassy and refreshing it is every time. It's got somewhat of a bite to it, but at this price range it's a fantastic buy imo.
2nd December 2015
Crisp, clean, thoroughly pleasant in the glass, and quite drinkable, but nothing to get excited about. A real bargain all the same.
25th November 2015
I suppose there is no shortage of people who want a whisk(e)y to be as bland as possible. This bottle is for those good folk.
6th September 2015
One of the worst Irish whiskeys I tasted. The problem with DEW is that there is very little to it, some toffee and vanilla and woody bitterness, nothing more. with coke it gets better. Too boozy and harsh, not sure why people call this smooth. Jameson Crested ten or 12 YO - that is smooth.
4th August 2015
A splash of water does wonders though. Really brings out the taste.
16th June 2015
Quick small hints of toffee and fruitiness but nothing else on display. That infamous burn that marks a rushed product swamps anything that might be found in the palate or nose. Overall a typical low end mass whiskey produced as quickly as possible, grand for a casual dram but nothing to seek out or choose when you can spend an extra few euros and get a proper brand.
26th May 2015
I wasn't sure what to expect but wow. This is a lot smoother and less astringent then Jameson (which was my go to whiskey for years). It smells very sweet, like buttery caramel. The taste is super smooth. Doesn't need ice or to be blended. One of the feels blended whiskeys I can sip and not scrunch my face. Very nice indeed,
28th March 2015
This whiskey is fantastic!
22nd March 2015
nicely priced in the US...quite smooth...very pleased!
5th March 2015
Devotees of single malt whisky will be shocked and amazed at just how smooth and satisfying Tullamore Dew is. There seems to be great deal of snobbery about single malts and, they do have a wide range of flavours to satisfy the palette. However, Tullamore Dew seems to have been a very well kept secret, it is so smooth and satisfying. I am a convert!
15th January 2015
It's taken me too long to find this; smooth! Sweet! Extremely drinkable (and mixable) more so than Jameson or Bushmills. Great stuff, try it!
27th September 2014
Jameson is nice. Tullamore Dew is STELLAR! Smoooooth!I've made a lot of converts over the years.Everyone I've offered it to loves it!
24th September 2014
For the price you pay, I have no reservations in buying this whisky. Simple, smooth with a light fruity taste. Nice finish. Great value for money!
8th September 2014
Experts may disagree, but everyone (the average person) to whom I've introduced to Tullamore Dew says "Wow, that's really good whiskey!", and they eventualy buy a bottle for themselves. Tullamore is smoother than more expensive whiskeys. Best buy for the buck in my opinion. Easy to drink neat or with a few drops of water. Also try "Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey" if you can find it. You won't be dissapointed.
7th September 2014
After decades of shunning Irish Whiskey in favour of my native Canadian Rye Whiskey's, I was introduced to Tullamore DEW from a series of Novels of all things. After finding it in my local Liquor Commission and buying a bottle for myself, I will never look back. I have tried a few Irish Whiskey's in the past, but none were able to impress me like Tullamore DEW. This Canadian is a convert for the amazing taste of this whiskey.
1st September 2014
There is nothing quite like a good triple-distilled single malt Irish whiskey, of course, I'm Irish, so I may be a tad biased, but ... this stuff is fantastic.
22nd August 2014
I'm enjoying my first bottle of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey after comparing it to Jameson's. I'm traditionally a bourbon drinker, but tried Irish whiskey at a gathering last weekend. I find Tullamore Dew to be quite flavorful and very smooth. I like the aftertaste better than Jameson's, which has a much spicer aftertaste. I'm no Irish Whiskey expert, but find this whiskey a pleasant change from my favorite bourbons, which are generally 10 year old, small batch or single barrel bourbons.
27th July 2014
16th July 2014
Drinkable..Bells without the headache!?..
23rd June 2014
Wouldn't drink this on its own, but it makes an excellent Irish Coffee. I greatly prefer this to Jameson's.
6th June 2014
I can feel the hint of vanilla and toffee in the nose and first taste. There isn't much more to it. It's smooth, but that smoothness doesn't stick around much in the aftertaste. Nice for the price, but next time I'll spend a bit more and go for my usual brand.
4th May 2014
Poor blend
4th February 2014
Nose: Vodka with... no, just vodka.Palate: VodkaFinish: Oh hell.
29th January 2014
I want that 2011 guy's cat!
16th January 2014
The smoothest whiskey. Very easy to drink. Mild flavours.
6th January 2014
I dont like whiskey I love it and this is very smooth. Ok I have to say it has a very lite whiskey flair but ..... I LIKE THAT its very drinkable . We are all differant dont shoot it donwn baseed on whiskey have an open tast palet and ENJOY . Im glad i got to try this fine drink.
28th November 2013
The best Irish in the world
19th August 2013
O Ireland only you could make a whiskey as good as this.Thank you. See you soon.
8th May 2013
Has that Irish whiskey sweetness that is oh so pleasant. Problem is that it simply finishes so young. That young whiskey taste starts to add up as you get down to the middle of the bottle. This is a good affordable whiskey to order at a bar. Does not sustain well as a home cabinet, go to kind of thing. For entry Irish whiskey, I personally prefer Powers.
11th February 2013
Vanilla and toffee all the way. A very short after taste. Way overpriced for quality of whiskey.
7th February 2013
it is available in scotland
27th August 2012
Great Price, Smooth and Sweet,I found it tasted much better when I let it air. Try it straight, no water/ice, and let it breathe.
22nd March 2012
An underrated Irish blend.Lots of sweetness without overdoing it and very smooth. An absolutely fantastic whiskey for hot toddies
29th February 2012
This is by far a beautiful drink, I love a dram of this after my evening meal.
25th August 2011
Tasted for the first time this year, very smooth, lovely bouquet but disappointed that I can't find it in Scotland. Will have to holiday in Ireland
The best whiskey on the market

Had this all the time when in Ireland on holiday, they love it over there, and rightly so, it's really smooth, nice and spicy.
