Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Quite light and well-balanced. There is a certain freshness, pertained from notes of cut hay and straw, barley sugars and herbs, notes of cereals and melted salty butter on granary toast.

    Palate

Medium-bodied with a richness. There are notes of gentle wood smoke and barley sugars, a farmy note with hints of hay and a roots with a touch of cereal sweetness and caramel.

    Finish

    Long and slightly herbal.

I love peated whiskey so I gave it a go asits cheap, I wish I hadn't as its one of the roughest drams I've ever had. It's a no from me.

Fantastic , This has proven me Wrong

Ive been drinking whisky for a little over Two years . Ive actually had to limit myself to weekends only as the expense is too high. I am a big fan of Heavily Peated , smokey whisky's. In particular I love the Octomore by Bruichladdich. I enjoy a dram or three of this on the weekends however today i decided i fancied trying something cheap and affordable that i could enjoy during the week as well so i don't have to wait 5 days for the pleasure. After extensive research i decided to give this a try and what a wonderful surprise it was. Now lets be honest. Naively I've always judged age as an essential part of whisky Buying. WRONG. this tastes phenominal. Its not overly smokey but the subtle pettiness of it is hugely welcome and noticeable. This is a very easy drinking Whisky and well worth the money. Infact you could put £15 on top of this price mark and id still enjoy a dram gladly. Happy drinking.

    Grew on Me

At first taste I did not like it. I had tasted nothing quite like it.I carried on and in the end I was enjoying it as it was different. Its great value for money so if you like peated whisky this could be one for you. Worth a try at the price. I will buy it again.

    L Jig

... to add to above review, which i had not scored. Love the pronunciation too. But far better than any Irish that has danced on my palate

    Laphroaig Light

Morrisons' surprise a few days ago and a right bargain, but only in comparison with the extortionate prices charged for other single malts. The nose is similar to the Big L and the taste initially satisfies, yet lacks some depth, which perhaps is hinted at by the lesser amber tints thru the glass. Surprised to see it is 42%m when feels like 40%, but it wont last long and on the liver it is just the same as the rest. Can see myself getting a few more down me before Christmas though
