Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Quite light and well-balanced. There is a certain freshness, pertained from notes of cut hay and straw, barley sugars and herbs, notes of cereals and melted salty butter on granary toast.

    Palate

Medium-bodied with a richness. There are notes of gentle wood smoke and barley sugars, a farmy note with hints of hay and a roots with a touch of cereal sweetness and caramel.

    Finish

    Long and slightly herbal.

Doesn't get much better for the money. Ignore at least one reviewer who adds coke to any whisky--what a ********!! Well worth the asking price, but don't expect a £100 bottle for the price asked.

    Bargain Bud-pleaser!

Tell you what, at this price this is one of the BEST! So it's not got 'depth', well enjoy it for the OPPOSITE then! Clean, clear, crisp, fragrant, light, refreshing, smooth, got the idea? Chuck a block of ice in and enjoy basking in the summer sun or just a drib of soft highland water to release the crisp magic in front of a winter fire. Tobermory? More like ToberMOREISH! Slàinte! PS - 20+ year malt drinker/collector with ever growing 'investment collection' if you rate that sort of "This is my CV" kinda thing!

    Neither crazy nor a snob.

This is the only whisky I have ever found to be genuinely undrinkable. Putrid and feinty, a very poorly distilled spirit and whatever maturation process it's went through did absolutely nothing to rescue it.

    A nice peated malt

I drink a lot of malts and am always surprised by Ledaig which I have been sampling occasionally over the last 12 months. Yes it very peaty, yes it lacks a little on the nose and indeed depth but its still a nice drink. Oh....and of course it is excellent value for money.

    Excellent value for money.

All those who down rate this single malt are either crazy or snobs. Ok so its cheap, pale, and the nose doesn't last all that long. However for under £20 you have a bargain. Ive been drinking single malts for over 10 yrs and would return to this again and again. People slate this with all sorts of unfounded faults but I say this, its a good 'single malt' compared to the trickery of Jura's Superstition, simgle malt? No! Its classed as one but should have a large label warning "blend blend blend". So if you would rarther pay £30 plus for a blend or under £20 for a single malt, I know what I would choose.
