The source of Finlaggan has remained a very closely guarded secret. To tell the true origin of Old Reserve you'll simply have to taste it and find out!
Slightly medicinal nose with hints of peanut, sticking plasters, manuka honey and digestive biscuits.
Sweet cereals, barley malt, a little peat smoke, TCP, nutmeg and ginger.
A long, sweet finish with toasty oak and peppermint.

Not a lot going on here. Little bit smokey, kind of reminds me of Aldi's own brand Islay malt, but less flavoursome. I'm from Islay so I know what I'm talking about natch
I like my Islay whisky and have several to compare. As at the moment I can get Laphroig Quartercask for 20 quid in a 70cl because the man that's got it thinks its not good. I also like Talisker and Bowmore but my favourite is Bunnahabhain 18 year old. This is a nice Islay and will be consumed. Lagavulin is also nice. I always compare Bells or Teachers which hides in Scotch but this is a million times better than that stuff and for that price a bargain. I can get 5 of these for one Bunnahabhain.
I’m no “expert” but I am an ex-pat Scotsman, who’s been drinking whisky, whiskey, and bourbon for many years, and have been to Islay and most of the other Western Isles more than once, so I know a little of what I speak. Finlaggan Old Reserve is most definitely of the Islay style (strong peat smoke smell and flavor), so don’t knock it for being that; you either like Islay whiskies or you don’t. To my “unsophisticated” tastes, this is just as good as Laphroaig or Lagavulin but at less than half the price. One large ice cube melted in it and it’s a grand drink. Ardbeg is more complex, and better I would say, but that costs at least 3 times as much. Finlaggan is a great bargain in an Islay Scotch.
UNBELIEVABLE for the price!! I am through the roof that I found this at my local Trader Joes. I can't wrap my head around people giving this less than five stars. Hysterical that they complain that it tastes too peaty...you idiots! Do you know what a good scotch is??
Overwhelming chemical/medicinal nose and flavor. I had to pour it out.
