After, the liquid is aged in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks imparting a rich and fruity character. It comes in a rather eye-catching hexagonal bottle, too.

Nose

Rich aromas of nuts, marzipan and dark chocolate with a pinch of spice.

Palate

Dried fruit followed by honeycomb sweetness, apricots, lemon zest, prunes and oak spice.

I was really surprised at how good this tastes.

The first time I had heard of The Sexton, I was telling the lady at the liquor store that I don't like smooth whiskey, I like the stuff that burns, and hits you, and makes you want to spike the shot glass like a football and punch the person next to you. So she said "You need to try Sexton, that's done in copper pots and it's like hell fire going down". SOLD! I got home, and opened the bottle expecting a smoke skull to waft out of the bottle and laugh at me for digging my own grave... but it didn't happen... I sniffed it... "this smells pretty good actually" I thought. I poured a shot, and slurped in enough to get a taste, but not so much that I might die... "This is actually really good." And not in a "this whiskey just punched my liver right out my butthole" good... like this is my new go-to Irish whiskey good. Move over Jameson, you've been replaced.

Gag in a bottle

This whiskey leaves a lingering taste that is rather unpleasant, the first swig will make you gag for dear life

smooth yet spicy.

Very Nice this for very little outlay. Stone cold bargain.. Sherry, dried fruit, spices... decent finish, if shortish... i could make a hole in the bottle quite easily.. for money a 4 star whiskey, not bad for irish... quite smooth
