The creation of master blender Alex Thomas, The Sexton Single Malt Irish whiskey is made from 100% Irish malted barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills. After, the liquid is aged in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks imparting a rich and fruity character. It comes in a rather eye-catching hexagonal bottle, too.
Rich aromas of nuts, marzipan and dark chocolate with a pinch of spice.
Dried fruit followed by honeycomb sweetness, apricots, lemon zest, prunes and oak spice.
Woody on the finish, with honeyed sweetness coming through.
Amazing nose to it with a very distinct peppery aftertaste. As with Irish tripled distilled whisky it is sublime to taste and in my opinion sacrilegious to consider mixing. Bottle is odd as is skeleton but distilled in the north adds to its mystery. Loved it.
This was purchased as a gift for a friend visiting from Ireland, based on her reaction I would say it was very much appreciated, although not an Irish whiskey drinker I did try a glass and was impressed with the smoothness.
What a great tasting malt. Plenty of depth and very smooth without being indistinct. A Good way to spend less of your hard earned.
Very mellow and a good price and a nice texture
Introduced to me by a friend, it has improved our friendship immeasurably. The contents of the bottle lit up my pallet. Unfortunately, the deep colour of the bottle prevented me from observing the speed with which the contents were diminishing.
