This is an 8 year old Irish single malt whiskey from The Quiet Man range, finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. The name doesn't come from the John Wayne film, but from the father of the brand owner, a bartender who heard many stories when behind the bar but told no tales.
Honey, sharp apple, white oak, fudge.
Toffee apple, pear, thick vanilla and orange peels.
Light vegetal oak, brown sugar, ginger snaps.
A very mild flavoured whiskey, especially for a single malt. Too mild to say I 'dislike', but not a whiskey I would recommend.
My very first Single Malt Irish Whiskey. I was very much surprised with the smoothness of this whiskey. I thought of a buttery caramel up front and a smooth toffee finish with vanilla hints.
I'm not going to be a pretentious snob so here's my fair review. It's a well made whisky for what it is. It has a nice smooth upfront taste which reminds me of glenmorangie. Nice lightly sharp finish. For 29.99 here in Ohio, not a bad daily whisky.
First found this at a Whiskey festival. If you enjoy an Irish Whiskey, I would highly recommend.
Dreadful branding clearly playing on the name of the film. Mediocre whiskey - not even distilled by the company selling it. Save your money for a proper whiskey - Green Spot, Redbreast, Bushmills, etc.
