The jewel in the crown of The Macallan's 1824 Series is erm, a Ruby! With the darkest hue in a no age statement range where colour is king, Ruby has spent the longest time in only the very finest sherry casks. The colour has been taken on naturally with no artificial colouring.

Rich wedding cake and espresso, cocoa, a little clove and walnut.
Raspberry coulis, maraschino, prunes, marmalade.
Long and rich, dark berries and ginger.
Big, bold, fruity sherried Speyside.
Usually drink the Macallan 18 yo. But couldn't find it. Thought it was a bit costly but gave it a go. No regrets. The finest Macallan whisky I've had! Wonderful! Can't get it easily now. May be a collectors item very soon.
I bought a bottle of this , haven't tried it, YET, but i did talk to a Macallan Rep, and yes they will NOT be making any more Ruby's.
This beautiful Ruby would be labeled 18yo if it had an age statement. Better than Rare Cask. One of the best Macallans. Unfortunately little birds are singing Ruby will go out of the market. Macallan does not have enough old casks that go into this red gem. Expect prices to sky rocket.
I think this taste better than the 18yo. I would buy again but the price went up $30! If it does go down in price, I will pick up another bottle. At this price point $185, I would rather buy the 18yo as it is available in the US.
I'd been a MacCallan fan up until a few years ago, but this entire 1824 series hasn't done anything to earn my loyalty back. At this price point I'd expect this whisky at least equivalent to the old 18 y.o line. Although this whisky is decent I find it to exhibit the characteristics of a young spirit. Sorry, but I cannot help but feel like this whisky represents the end of an era.
