The Gospel 3 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
This Australian rye whisky joins the Return to Oz series from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Distilled at Melbourne-based The Gospel, which specialises in rye whisky. The mash bill here is composed of 51% Australian unmalted rye from a single farm in south Australia, and 49% malted barley. Initially matured in a new American oak cask, this limited edition single cask enjoyed a red wine cask finish for a fruity dimension. Bottled at a punchy 58.6%, it features the story of The Gospel distillery, along with a deadly Australian animal, on the label. Can you spot it?
Batch 1 is a release of 434 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
It's really rather lovely. Buttery dark rye bread, with hints of spice and light toffee, all with an underlying cherry compote note.
Palate
More rye bread notes, with caramel vanilla, sweet allspice, clove, pepper, and rich red fruit.
Finish
Dry and lingering. Dried red fruit and crème caramel, with woody spices.
