This right here is a rather marvellous single cask single malt distilled at Teaninich in June 2009 – independently bottled by Douglas Laing, and available exclusively from Master of Malt! After a dozen years, the cask was cracked open in January 2022, releasing an outturn of 333 bottles of this delicious dram for the Old Particular, Fanatical About Flavour series.

Nutty barley, fresh bread, and toasted woodchips with zesty wafts of lemon peel. Grassy hay rests beneath, though burnt caramel keeps things sweet.
Biscuity malt and earthy wafts of smoky black tea. Fruit cake spice builds, with creamy fudge balancing faint murmurs of peat.
Candied fruits and clove-studded linger alongside subtle peat smoke and crunchy ginger biscuits.

Wow, this tastes like the scent of my local bakery on a Saturday morning. Incredibly moreish, mostly sweet, but that smoky finish is a welcome surprise.
