This no age statement single malt comes to you from the depths of Tasmania, produced at the wonderful Sullivans Cove Distillery. As the name suggests, the whisky has spent the duration of its ageing in American oak casks. Exceptionally tasty stuff from the folks over in Australia.
A real nuttiness emerges first completed with an amalgamation of cereal grain and oats.
The palate is fresh and enticing with subtle notes of citrus and broader tones of vanilla.
Vanilla and hazelnuts conclude this antipodean dram.

I am not a connaisseur in any ways. And not someone with a special palate. I like my Jack Daniels on the rocks with a sigarette in a bar, a green spot in the rain overlooking the east cork coast and now I am drinking the weird but interesting Nikka Coffey malt.. But every so often my mind slips back to this baby. Sullivan's cove american oak. Simply the best drink I ever had. Got a bottle from my girlfriend (who knows absolutely NOTHING about whisky). She just googled 'best whiskey in the world', bought it from some french shop and got it shipped to the netherlands for about 200€ and a lot of hassle. But enough history. Why is the best whiskey?What happened to my tongue and palate when I sipped it? I don't remember that much.. Always thought of all that vanilla/citrus talking etc a lot of hooh-ha. What I do remember is that it has all that whisky is supposed to be. Deep, a bit sweet, full bodied, a welcoming taste, rich, smooth but not to sweety-smooth. But most of a all I remember its after taste. An endless stream of flavours that could last up te minutes (or maybe I am tasting them still). Pure gold.
