Strathmill 13 Year Old 2006 (cask 6) - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)

Strathmill 13yo 2006 #6 Bottling Note

A superb indie Strathmill here, distilled in October 2006 and matured in a single cask! While it spent most of its ageing in refill butt casks, its final eight months were spent in a single sherry butt. The folks at Signatory clearly aren't superstitious, because they bottled it up at 13 years old for the Cask Strength Collection, with an outturn of 706 bottles at 61.2% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fresh malt, honeycomb and blueberry jam alongside dried herbs and cocoa.

Palate: Festive spices and earthy vanilla pod, with maple syrup, oily toasted nuts and toast.

Finish: Spiced dark chocolate lingers alongside kitchen herbs and orange peel.

Reviews for Strathmill 13 Year Old 2006 (cask 6) - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)
Soft Sherry Syrup! Great, I would recommend and repeat myself.
Nose:
Plum syrup, perfume, sherry aroma. Ripe fruit, hint of vanilla. The freshness of Italian lemon.
Taste:
The taste is syrupy, oily. Very nice as the 61.2 Abv is not strong or sharp, beautifully integrated alcohol. Dried brown apples. A little of Maldon quality salt. Anise is felt from a great distance, a little bitterness. Notes of sherry barrels and oak barrels at taste. Light leather aroma and also very soft taste.
Aftertaste:
Dries fast enough, soft, chocolate bitterness remains.
