Stauning Rye Rum Finish

Cask-finished Danish rye whisky from Stauning! The malted rye whisky was initially matured in virgin heavily-charred American white oak, before it was finished in casks which previously held rum from Belize for six months. It was bottled at 46.5% ABV, packed full of complex fruity flavours among the spicier notes.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Cigar box, vanilla blossom, cinnamon, praline, chocolate-dipped banana, and oak char.

Palate Warm and spiced, with chocolate sauce, dried apricot, orange chocolate, fig, and waxy honey.

Finish Buttered rye toast, oily orange peel, and dried pear.

Worth looking for
A lovely, complex rye whisky. Stauning rye has an already unique profile but this elevates it a fair bit. The cigar/leather undertone is still there but the rum cask finish adds a little sweetness and subtle fruit. Quite sublime.
