Starward Fortis is a big, bold single malt Australian whisky, which was matured entirely in American oak barrels that were previously home to Australian red wine. After maturation, Fortis is bottled up at 50% ABV, and it's bottled without chill-filtration. It's brilliant stuff, suitable for sipping neat, but flavoursome enough to stand up to being used in all kinds of cocktails.
Strawberry, blackcurrant jam, a bit chocolatey at points, hazelnut, gingerbread.
Figs, dates, peanut brittle, a hint of toasty oak, more jammy red berries.
Vanilla pod earthiness lingers underneath blackberry and Seville orange.
