St. Magdalene 19yo 1979 Bottling Note

You don't see official bottlings of St. Magdalene single malt Scotch whisky much these days, as the distillery was closed down all the way back in 1983. This rare whisky was distilled in 1979 and bottled some time during the late 1990s. It has been released as part of Diageo's Rare Malts Series, a collection that always catches the eye of the whisky historians out there.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

St. Magdalene 19 Year Old 1979 - Rare Malts Reviews

Worth every penny

The finest Malt that I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, I am down to my last measure. If I had a spare £1500 lying around, would I buy another bottle...absolutely!
It is like drinking warm honey.

A great investment

We bought a bottle of this in Edinburgh when we were on our Honeymoon as an investment. We still have it now tucked away in a cupboard in pristine condition and paid £100 for it. It’s nice to see it’s appreciating in value as the years go by - 15yrs on The Whiskey Exchange is currently selling at £1500.

The mother of them all!

In my humble opinion; Among top 3 bottlings ever made. I’ve had the opportunity to own, and drink, three bottles of this marvelous juice. It was truly the nectar of gods. Malty and spicy, butterscotch and fruitcake. I still smile when I think of it.

One of the best ever whiskies

Huge maltiness, vanilla and butter, multigrain bread, blackboard chalk, hint of fresh cherries, fresh coffee cream. the palate is incredibly rich and vibrant, with warm bread dough, heather, oatmeal with honey, chamomile tea, lemon meringue, denim, eucalyptus, herbal cough drops, pie crust and old lace. this one will leave you practically speechless

possibly one of the finest whiskies ever produced

i've only had a sample but this is an amazing experience. Sweet and malty, lots of citrus, almonds, lovely toffee, bags of spices - a larder full, you name them there in here. Its the complexity thats breathtaking, every sip another layer of flavour. Leather, old wood, honey - its like a tasting thesaurus!!!
