Another release of Springbank’s wonderful 12 year old, matured in 70% ex-Sherry casks and 30% ex-bourbon casks. This Campbeltown malt is bottled at 56.3% abv.
Sweet vanilla and biscuity malt. Dried herbs, oak and hints of creamy fudge. Toffee apples.
Rich fruit and dried peels. Slightly oily, creamy palate entry. Vanilla, honey, spiced oak and digestive biscuits.
Balanced, malty finish. Hints of salty smoke.

What an astonishing whisky. This is absolutely top class. I had my last drop of the bottle tonight. It almost brings a tear to eyes as I drank the last swallow. I had a glas of Laga 16, but that was not good now, even though it is a fine whisky. Now I am opening a Springbank 18, and hope to have another 12 cask strenght on my shelve soon. JH
I miraculously found a bottle of the first year 2010 release of this offering, and know they have 1 more left at the store. Amazing value for $100CDN and my favourite Springbank release! Will definitely try the add a bit to a cheaper grain brand, I already add a dash of this to Peat Monster and its fantastic!
Add a touch of this to a subtle cheap grain whisky (Aldi’s Solo works particularly well) and the results are astonishing. The springbank funk comes right through and lifts the grain base dramatically. Give it a try!
Absolutely amazing as you can sit with it all day and probably not name all the things going on here, talk about balance this is it.the bottle I have is the 56.3% known as batch 13.I paid 79.99 US for it and I am heading out for another before it's gone.
Don't be fooled by the 12. I'm always surprised that people don't distinctly notice what is obviously older than its statement whisky. Many distilleries do this especially with cask strength releases. Pay attention.
