Another release of Springbank’s wonderful 12 year old, matured in 70% ex-Sherry casks and 30% ex-bourbon casks. This Campbeltown malt is bottled at 56.3% abv.
Sweet vanilla and biscuity malt. Dried herbs, oak and hints of creamy fudge. Toffee apples.
Rich fruit and dried peels. Slightly oily, creamy palate entry. Vanilla, honey, spiced oak and digestive biscuits.
Balanced, malty finish. Hints of salty smoke.

It's really a nice winter warmerupper. For some reason I like it even better than the 18yr . . So far it is my favorite Springbank offering . Not as long in finish but has all the flavor and character of the distillery .
I have bought every single batch since the first 12 CS. And loved every one. I just love the oily herbaceous saltiness in this one. Very rewarding when you spend the time to really explore and appreciate what this whisky has to offer.
Batch 13 seems to be darker and richer, more sherry / less peat than my last bottle (batch 9 maybe) - and straying from a classic 'springbank' profile. Having said that, the bottle is recently opened and will change as it goes down. After this bottle is finished I'll maybe switch to Longrow.
