Red Spot 15 Year Old Bottling Note

Red Spot is reborn! Mitchell & Son’s Spot Whiskey range dates back many moons, but over time a few expressions have disappeared from shelves, including Red Spot - but those days are over. The relaunched Red Spot is a 15 year old single pot still Irish whiskey, comprised of three different whiskeys aged separately then blended. One is matured in Oloroso sherry casks, one is aged in bourbon casks, and the final one is initially aged in bourbon casks before being finished in Marsala wine casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Stewed berries and booze red wine, with a touch of new leather giving it a savoury edge.

Palate Apple turnover, black pepper spiciness, caraway, blackcurrant jam, soft vanilla.

Finish Lasting oaky warmth and a final hint of damson.

Good but not the best
Slightly disappointed to be honest. Big fan of the green spots especially the chateau Barton, yellow spot is also a beautiful smooth whisky to drink. Red spot is ok but found it a bit harsh on the palate. Not something I would usually associate with a good Irish whisky.

The very best
My new favourite. Nothing short of perfect, the nose is incredible! Should anyone ask about the merits of Irish Whiskey over Scottish whisky a bottle of this will sway anyone.

Another fine whiskey from Mitchell & Sons
Its a wonderful whiskey. I've been won over by the 2 green spots and the yellow spot. The red spot doesn't dissapoint.

Worth the money
First whisky I've ever bought over £100, and I'm glad I did. Noticeable yet indescribable increase in experience over the rest of the range (which, themselves, are delicious). Real craftsmanship.
