Green Spot Château Montelena

A delicious edition of Green Spot Irish single pot still whiskey which has been finished in casks that previously held Zinfandel wine from Chateau Montelena in Napa Valley, California. It's the second in 'Wine Geese' series, all of which feature whiskey finished in casks from wineries run by Irish winemakers around the world – the family currently running Chateau Montelena was originally from Waterford!

Nose

Vibrant notes of fresh summer berries and pineapple, balanced by underlying heat of cedar.

Palate

Brown sugar and creamy vanilla, mixed with a few touches of fried dough. Cinnamon and white pepper in the background.

Finish

Continued festive spices. Slightly nutty.

Delicious

Delicious. The Zinfandel barrels really add to the complexity. And, surprisingly, it goes very well with chocolate (which is not something that I normally expect from a whiskey).

Yummy, sweet, shortbreat wine. Pleasant and easy.

The nose is like a quality fine wine. Really nice on the nose. The palate is good, and the finish is not bad. Light and the finishing really brings out more of the shortbread on the nose. Really nice.
