The first ever single pot still Irish whiskey finished in Bordeaux casks! The choice of Bordeaux wine is also significant - Ch. Léoville Barton is not only a highly-regarded grand cru Château, but one that takes its name from the Irish 'Wine Geese' winemaker Thomas Barton. In fact, Léoville Barton is still run by his descendants to this day. This bottling is a celebration of shared Irish heritage.
Matured initially in a mixture of oloroso sherry, fresh American oak and bourbon barrels, this Green Spot whiskey is then finished in the Château Léoville Barton Bordeaux wine casks for 12 to 24 months.
Wild raspberry, a little pot pourri, crab apple, honey and gingerbread.
Toffee, green apple, lemon peel, vanilla, redcurrant and warming spice.
Long and quite dry with cereal and plenty more spiciness!

Smoother than a baby’s bum. The nose changed dramatically after a few minutes in the glass., this was a first pour. Initially to me very solvent, then ripe pear and butterscotch. In the mouth subtle and warming then turning to tingling spice. Satisfying warmth and comfortable finish. I would guess this is going to get better and better after opening.
Top class nose and taste - refreshing. Punches well above its price point. This is the best version in my opinion of the green spots.
Nose: Chalky sweet medicinal nose. Palate: Sweet molasses close out a palate which is verdant in the fruits of the forest. After: The decline into your sip tantalisingly spells sourness, but no, this whiskey is merely holding you attention ahead of your next taste. Wonderful.
Very smooth, perhaps too easy... Really rich and full of flavour, caramel, molasses and just lovely. Best I’ve had in a long long time.
Someone else wrote that this is a totally unique whiskey, and I have to agree. There is nothing else like this. I can see it being polarizing; like marmite - you’ll love it or be soft it. This is an absolutely a gem and a staple for me. Drinks at a much higher value than its cost, and it’s a must have if you’re a fan of Irish SPS whiskies.
