A very special, dramatic-looking edition of Smokehead single malt featuring a debossed "Smokehead Skull". Hugely peaty and very well-packaged!
Smoke! Lapsang souchong. Cool wood smoke. Thick and full.
Big, puckering peat. Smoky, fruity sweetness, touch of sherry, sultana. Herbal.
Herbal, tangy fruits and more peat smoke!
I love my Islay scotches. I fell in love with this dram. I brought some friends over who love their Islays. I gave them a blind taste test with these other scotches: Laphroaig 10, Laphroaig QA, Lagavulin 16, Bowmore 12, Longrow CV, Highland Park 12, Ardbeg 10, and Port Charlotte Very Peated. Three of 6 people had Smokehead in their top 2. The others had it in their top 4. It is a very good dram. I believe it's a young Ardbeg (7 year). It is very smokey with a popsicle finish. This is one of the scotches with smoke and fruit flavor hitting you at the same time.
Had this bottle for almost a year now and went through 85% of it by now. When i first bought it i was obsessed with peat and this little bomb packed in the bottle satisfied every need for a few weeks. After the first big wow vanished away and I could smell again (lets be honest this monster just shuts down your nose for a week) negative side of this scotch showed up. First thing that started really annoying me is the synthetic taste that creeps in once you can taste through the smoke,second-the peat smell actually starts evaporating really quick once the bottle was opened(never happened with my Laphroaigs,Adbergs and Lagavulins), almost seems as if the scotch was infused with peat. And last-it has no character except for the massive smoke punch and once the excitement about the smoke and fancy packaging is gone it is a very mediocre scotch, not something I would pour for my guests to enjoy. I ended up using the rest of the bottle just for smoky rinses on cocktail glasses whenever I'm making them. So before you spend 30odd pounds on this think twice, because it is a good possibility you won't enjoy more than half of it
outstanding! for peat and smoke lovers
a lot of peat but also some sherry dried fruits on it. Not so delicate but nevertheless very enjoiable
It's the same product, in a different bottle isn't it?? How can this taste bad if it's just a packaging change??
