    Ardbeg Clone

First sip, with just a few drops of water and I was thinking hmm, am I having a slightly toned down Ardbeg 10? Seriously close to Ardbeg in characteristics and am sure one can very easily mistake it for one if a blind tasting is performed. Good thing but when priced nearly as that of the Ardbeg 10 in travel retail outlets, I'd rather go for the Ardbeg at this price point.

A great and very interesting smoky whisky. I love it!

    Agreed. Very Ardbeg-ish

I agree with Dinis, from Portugal. I'm Scottish, but live overseas and I've started running single malt tasting sessions for small groups of internationals, trying a few different whiskies, one after the other. We then judge them on what we personally think of them (rather than what anyone else here, on MoM may have said). This one is, as you'd expect, very smoky but, we found, virtually indistinguishable from the (more expensive) Ardbeg 10. The only problem was that, at only 40%, it's a touch 'lightweight', especially if you add even just a wee bit of water. Maybe that was deliberate but, for me, that's one of the reasons it falls just a little short of, for example, the Ardbeg itself, the Bowmore 100 Degrees Proof and even the (excellent value-for-money) Bowmore Mariner. However, all round, not too bad at all.

    A discovery!

Definitely a great discovery! A heavily peated, but not overdoing it at all, comes with a interesting finish. One of my recent favourites!
