Smögen 7 Year Old 2011 (cask 56/2011) - Single Cask Edition No.6
7 year old Swedish single malt from Smögen, distilled on 26 November 2011 from heavily peated Optic barley. It was then left in a first fill bourbon barrel from Maker's Mark, until there was threat of a leakage! The precious whisky was quickly transferred into a rum barrel from Diamond distillery in Guyana for the final four and a half months of its maturation. It was then bottled at cask strength, 62.4% ABV, with an outturn of only 325 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Distinct peat and slightly charred notes, a hint of grass, cinnamon spice and creamy vanilla intertwined with lemongrass, with subtle undertones of rum and dried fruits.
Palate
Both sweet and peaty, rum and raisin ice cream followed by hints of new leather, full bodied peat and vegetal undertones.
Finish
Rich vanilla and chocolate wafers balanced by more leathery notes and baking spices.
