Secret Orkney 17 Year Old 2005 (cask DRU17/A63 #16) - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)
From a secret distillery on the island of Orkney (on which there aren't many distilleries, to be honest) comes a 2005 vintage single malt Scotch whisky. It was bottled for the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory who lived up to the name by presenting this whisky at a cask strength 55.4% ABV in January 2023. That was after 17 years of maturation in a first-fill oloroso sherry butt.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Oily walnuts, orange peel, black compote, dark chocolate, and ginger.
Palate
Vanilla tablet, honeycomb, syrupy dates, coffee beans, and rich fruitcake.
Finish
Woody spice and hazelnut.
