Description

This single malt from Japan's Shinshu distillery was allowed to mature in the Tsunuki Aging Cellar for three years before being bottled at cask strength. Perhaps a hint of what's to come from the Tsunuki distillery, opened in 2016 by Shinshu's owner, Hombo Shuzo...

Nose

Oily peat, with leafy cooking herb and vanilla pod notes backing it up.

Palate

More vanilla on the palate, with earthy peat ever present.

Finish

A light hint of new oak adds heat to the finish.

Great stuff. Has so many layers of flavors from mild peat, citrus, berries, vanilla, and honey.
