Here we have a blended whisky, Shinobu, which translates as "perseverance" or "patience" in Japanese. A marriage of 50% malt and 50% grain whisky, it's first matured in sherry and bourbon casks before a finishing period in Japanese Mizunara oak. Nicely buttery and woody, and ought to make a fabulous Highball.
Lemon curd and buttery grain sweetness, with mint white chocolate and fragrant wood.
Fresh, oily malt, with hints of orange and sherry influence alongside creamy coconut.
Lasting notes of chocolate and creamy vanilla.
because the taste improves vastly once you let the bottle sit for about a month after the first pour (if you have the patience). Very boring and bland initially, and with bite associated with younger whiskies. After a month, the fruit really started to become apparent. Very sweet and floral and bit smoother than before. Not bad
Quite smooth. No burn afterwards. Quite enjoyed it
This is definetly a must have for the price, if you are a fan of togouchis blended whisky then you will enjoy this one alot. There is definetly citrusy flavours in there, it goes down with very little of a burn so it's a good whisky for beginners.
