Single Malt
Scotland
Highlands and Islands Whisky Company

A great Islay single malt from an unnamed distillery. The Ileach always scores well with the critics, this cask strength edition was awarded a mindblowingly high 97 points by Jim Murray in his 2010 Whisky Bible.

... and very harsh. Not good.
A very, very tiny drop of water opens this whisky up nicely. For a no age statement cask strength malt it is surprisingly smooth. Sweet rather than smoke laden, subtle rather than strident, it is a precocious youngster. A dram to take your time over.
thoroughly enjoyed every drop. just a tiny splash of water...if any at all. this is smooth and delicious. smoky with hints of iodine, forest floor and old hessian sack...will buy again.
There is something extremely special about this whiskey. The balance of smoke, peat and rich sugary fruity goodness is seriously uncontested by multiple other more expensive drams out there. I am unable to restrain my urge to buy this whenEVER it goes on sale. When I can pick up a cask strength Islay gem like this for under $45 US I have zero will power. It is bar none, the most delicious hidden value whiskey I have tasted to date.
I bought a bottle of this at Christmas as i wanted something a bit special and a talking point. I have to say that it did not disappoint. The flavour and the peat notes are so tingly on the tongue. I initially thought that it was like laphroaig but then you realise that it is much much more. It is a great tot. recommend to anyone, Its also a great price for the content.
