Douglas Laing
Scallywag Noir is a limited-edition whisky with all the vibrancy of a fox terrier but all the deep, dark complexity of a Scotch predominantly finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks sourced from Jerez in the Andalusian region of southern Spain. One that was bottled at a cask strength of 52.8% ABV with no colouring or chill-filtration. That's probably because that exactly describes this very whisky. With a charming new bespoke-shaped front label as an added bonus.
Expect a symphony of deep velvety sweetness, dark fruits and warming spices on the nose.
With every sip, its enigmatic nature unravels, pulling you deeper into a world where whispers of dark chocolate, spiced oak and sherry-soaked raisins play on the palate.
The finish is long, lingering, and utterly indulgent, bringing molasses, ripe figs and black cherries.
