“A great, impressive malt. Really impressed by this one. Tasting notes of salted caramel with peat and barley, damp earth and moss and charred oak. ”

Description

A limited edition bottling of Douglas Laing's Rock Island blended malt, with a decidedly sherried style to it. Built around malts from Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney, this expression enjoyed its final stretch of maturation in specially selected Spanish sherry butts. The result is a whisky that offers up coastal salinity brilliantly balanced by dried fruit sweetness and warming spice.

*UK (excluding Channel Islands) and retail only. Offer from 29 05 2026, while stock lasts.

Nose

Raisins, toasted brown sugar, sea spray and cured meats.

Does not agree with me

I loved the salinity of the whisky upon first sip, however the overall taste is one of alcohol. Couldnt sense any Salted caramel. Also give me a bad hangover even when drinking 5/6 units. I never get hangovers! I had some Aber Falls last night 5/6 units, nothing today. So unfortunately i have half a bottle i won't be drinking

Absolutely recommend

This is a really superb whisky. I’m a fan of island oceanic style whiskies so this really ticks my box plus the sherry finishing is excellent and adds a whole new level of depth of flavour

Salt heaven

This and the standard Rock Island are a must for Mezcal enjoyers wanting that kind of funkiness (minus the oilyness) in a Whiskey

What a gem

After drinking highland and speysides for the last few years albeit a bottle a week .... this one is the first touch of smoke ive had for a long time. I'm making my way through the Douglas lanes blended malts and this one truly brings shear magic and much joy Its fantastic.
