The 12 year old expression from Old Pulteney released in mid-2018 was entirely aged in bourbon casks, resulting in a heavy influence of bourbon sweetness - which helps to balance the characteristic coastal salinity of the whisky. An excellent introduction to Old Pulteney (though well worth a look even if you've already been introduced).
Honeycomb, vanilla tablet, soft sawdust oakiness and oatcakes.
Chocolate peanuts, mint, citrus peels, maritime elements and white pepper.
Toffee, brine and lemon.

This is just good whisky. There are lot of better 12 years old but this is not bad. As a seasoned whisky drinker it left me wanting more depth and flavor. But still a decent dram
Personal taste really is just that, for anyone to say one whisky is good or bad is purely their opinion, some are worth listening too others are best ignored. Is this the best whisky.........nope. Is it the worst whisky..................not at all. My personal opinion for what it's worth is it's a fine malt, around 80 out of a 100 score, have I ever scored one at a 100............nope.
As a clean speyside whisky lover, I was a Glenmorangie lover. For the smoothness fruitiness and citrus aromatics. I now have a new go to 12 year old Malt. Different but better...New go to for the after dinner chill ??
Maybe it’s because I’ve eaten a hot curry and it’s cleared my sinuses, but the nose and palate of this wonderful malt sing! I’ll say one thing. Clarnico chocolate limes. If you’re over sixty you’ll know what I mean. This is going to be a fixture of my cabinet from now on.
It’s pleasant enough but it’s not great but not poor either .but somewhere in between. I suspect it’s great for beginners, whilst I am not a seasoned professional I know what I like . Just wondering what if this wasn’t dumbed down to the minimum 40% like many others, more alcohol more taste is my mantra, sadly OP12 doesn’t each those heights. . I bought this as my go to Bourbons weren’t available . I wouldn’t say to anyone not to purchase this whisky, it’s each to their own.
