Released in celebration of Douglas Laing's 70th anniversary, this sublime single malt from Port Ellen was distilled in November 1982 and matured for 35 years in a single refill butt until October 2018. It was bottled without any chill-filtration or additional colouring at 54.4% ABV for the Xtra Old Particular Platinum series, with an outturn of just 273 bottles. Superb single malt from a long-closed and legendary Islay distillery - that's certainly one way to celebrate your 70th anniversary!

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose Salty and initially dry – warms to soft peat, old leather and drifting wood smoke.

Palate Mouth puckeringly salty before a big tarry phenol focus with coal dust and mocha.

Finish Subtle – showing its Sherry history with later pepper, oil and creosote.
