As Port Ellen distillery closed its doors and quieted its stills in 1983, demand for its whiskies has been incredibly high for many years. This bottling from Douglas Laing's Old & Rare Platinum range is no exception, especially as it was distilled in March 1983, the last year the Islay distillery produced whisky. This edition was matured in a sherry butt for 28 years before it was bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6% ABV in October 2011. This is one of 227 bottles.
